DNA Testing

Print the DNA Bar-Coded Card request form.  Fill out the form, then either fax (406-587-9301) or mail to ASA.

Please be able to provide the following information:

 Embryo calves

• Tattoo
• Year of Birth
• Sex
• Dam Registration Number
• Sire Registration Number

Donor Dams

• Registration Number

AI Sires

• Registration Number

All samples should be mailed with DNA Sample card and  DNA Sample Submit form to:

• The lab tests DNA samples only once a week, Wednesday.
• Samples must be received no later than Tuesday in order to run on Wednesday.
• ASA receives a samples received list once a week.
• Please expect DNA samples to be at lab for at least ten days before we get results.
• Karyotype tests take at least 20-30 days before we receive results from UC Davis.

Results

• Confirmation Results of DNA tests are mailed upon arrival.
• Owner is notified immediately if exclusions occur. He/she is then given the option of a recheck, or a retest to alternate matings at no additional cost.  

ASA receives results from previous week’s testing once a week.

• We update animals and bill owner, or person requesting test.
• $45/DNA test
