Do you Qualify as a Performance Advocate?

Simmental members rise to the top by collecting phenotypic and genomic data. Performance Advocate recognizes dedicated and driven Total Herd Enrollment participants who track 8 to 14 traits listed below.

Have you checked your score, yet? You have until August 1 to complete your 2018 fall and 2019 spring data.

Are you tracking and reporting these traits?

  • Calving ease
  • Birth weight
  • Weaning weight
  • Yearling weight
  • Yearling hip height
  • Ultrasound
  • Docility scores
  • Genomic test on birth group
  • Foot and leg score
  • Mature cow weight
  • Mature cow body condition
  • Mature cow hip height
  • Cow herd genomics
  • Udder score
  • Feed intake data

To qualify as a Dedicated Performance Advocate, you need to submit records on at least 90% of the contemporary group on 8 of the 14 traits.

To qualify as a Driven Performance Advocate, you need to submit records on at least 90% of the contemporary group on 10 of the 14 traits.

Those who qualify are listed in the Late Fall SimTalk and could be featured in an article highlighting their breeding program.

Want to see if you qualify?

If you’re enrolled in THE, follow these steps to see your current score:

When you Log in, go to Data Entry / Online / Inventory - select Fall 2018 or Spring 2019 and look at the new dashboard to track your data and see what has been submitted.

Missing any traits, but think you completed the contemporary group?

Using calf removal codes will aid in meeting the requirements; there are pre-wean removal codes for calves culled prior to weaning and post wean removal codes for calves culled after weaning.
